Kanika Khatri, the brains behind The Coveted Code, knocked on our doors and jolted all of us out of the autumn gloom. Having trained from SNDT Institute Juhu, she’s worked under ace designers Manish Malhotra and Rocky S for their fashion week collections. She’s also styled an exhaustive number of A list Bollywood celebrities.
She handpicked a collection for us, and it’s safe to say, we went home knowing our festive wardrobe was in safe hands. We did a quick q&a with her regarding some doubts that we had about wedding season essentials. Here’s your hacks, and here’s where you can shop her collection!
Q1: What’s the one ethnic wear trend that needs to be stopped asap?
Kanika: I think we’ve had enough of Anarkalis, there are many more lighter, refreshing silhouettes.
Q2: What’s a jewellery trend you’re excited to try?
Kanika: Chokers definitely; be it western or ethnic – especially the traditional polki and uncut diamond ones – chokers and layered necklaces are big this season.
Q3: Would you rather?
Soft English pastels or Elaborate Indian hues
Kanika: Soft English Pastels!
Box clutches or Potlis
Kanika: Box clutches for sure!
Capes or Dupattas?
Kanika: Haha Capes, obviously!
Q4: What is your idea of fusion wear?
Kanika: Fusion wear for me is, a creative blend of the east and the west, with predominant western silhouettes and a touch of Indian textiles or ethnic styling elements.
Q5: One item from STYFI you want to add to your closet?
Kanika: Any of the fusion outfits from Designer Ruchira Nangalia to be honest, but I’ll pick this one if I had to!
